We Will Enact Stiffer Punishments For Rapist - Senate President | CABLE REPORTERS
The Nigeria Senate President, Sen. Dr. Ahmed Lawan has emphasized on the need to put in place tougher punishment in the country for rapist.
He made this known while reacting to the trending rape of 3 Nigerians which led to the death of one.
"Today, the Senate took a look at the brutality and ravishment of the girl child in Nigeria with particular reference to the cases of Miss Tina Ezekwe in Lagos, Miss Uwa Omozuwa at the University of Benin and the 12 year old girl in Jigawa state.
With the rising cases of rape across the country, what we need to do is to put in place stiffer penalties in Nigeria’s criminal and penal code that will serve as deterrent to perpetrators involved in the act.
We stand together should to shoulder on this. We have to save our future, and these girls and women are the future of this nation" He wrote
