The chairmanship election of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Enugu State branch held yesterday ended in a disaster as members engaged in a free for all fight following allegations of Manipulations in favour of a particular candidate by the outgoing leadership.
According to reporter who monitored the Election he said trouble started when some members of the association felt that their candidate is being rigged out of the election and decided to cause crisis.
A contestant Dr Onyia, a resident in ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu sustained deep Machete cuts around the head and arms even as the police and other security personel were on ground to maintain peace and orderliness.
Similar incident took place a month ago in Akwa Ibom during the #NMA election in Uyo the Akwaibom state capital.
Members of the NMA who spoke after the botched election condemned the violence describing it as Barbaric and unbefitting of the Noble profession.
