Enugu Assembly Summons Igwe Okeke Arum Over Alleged Abuse of Office, Dirty Dealings | CABLE REPORTERS

The Enugu state house of Assembly today summoned the traditional ruler of Mbuluowo community in Nkanu East local government areas of Enugu State, His Royal Highness, Igwe Godwin Okeke Arum over allegations of highhandedness, abuse of office, and dirty dealings.

The Enugu State House of Assembly committee on local government matters, chaired by Rt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu summoned the traditional rural following a protest and letter of petition filed against Igwe Arum by the Ashishi Owo General Assembly(AOGA), a 7-page petition which amongst other items accused the traditional rural of:

1. Secret sell of 60 plots of community lands at #600,000 each to the combined tone of 36 million naira.

2. Sell of 15 plots of land at Asisi site for 7.5 million naira which he used it's financial proceed to buy Highlander, marry a wife for his son, and sent his other son to London for studies.

3. Attempted sale 450 plots of land to one Chief Ndife.

4. Attempted sale of 250 plots of land at 17th mile Enugu Abakaliki Express Way to Chief Samuel Onyeisi (CEO Peace Mass Transport Ltd).

5. Resisted attempt to sale Ekeagu Owo land in 2016, 2017 and 2018

6. Resisted plan to sell 350 plots of land at Ekeagu in 2019 which resulted in violent clashes between Asisi youths and his hired thugs, etc.

The chairman of the committee, Rt. Hon. Aniagu on his remarks, stated that the summon is to intervene, investigate the issues raised and bring about lasting peace to the community, in order to prevent imminent crisis and break down of law and order in the community.

The council of Igwes in Nkanu East local government area led by HRH Igwe Hyacinth Edeani pleaded with the committee to let the council mediate on the matter before further investigations and questioning.

The House Committee agreed to the plea of the traditional rulers and asked them to mediate and report back to the committee in no distant time.

Other members of the Enugu state house of Assembly present include Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze, Hon. Otaka, Hon. Ibenaku Onoh etc.
