Igbo World Assembly (IWA) with over 37 country Igbo Diaspora globally fronts, are the authentic umbrella organizations of Ndi-Igbo and therefore the mouthpiece of  the Diaspora.

Igbo World Assembly (IWA) categorically recognizes Ohanaeze Ndigbo as the designate mouthpiece of Ndigbo Worldwide.  IWA has been the backbone of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo in Diaspora through its difficult and challenging years as it emerged as a formidable Institution. Consequentially, IWA has been the unwavering in its backings of the significance and roles Ohanaeze Ndiigbo plays in the socio-cultural and political reverence of  Ndiigbo as a nation through all its journey to justice and  is its standing today as a formidable worldwide Institution.

IWA through its Chairman Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze (Onowu Abagana) as the Chairman Ohanaeze Ndiigbo Diaspora Committee, also, has appropriately represented Ohanaeze Ndiigbo in Diaspora and has stood behind every Ohanaeze Ndiigbo leadership through icons below:


1.       Late Dr Dozie Ikedife (Ikenga Nnewi) – Anambra State

2.       Amb. Ralph Uwechue – Anioma (Delta) State

3.       Chief Garry-Enwo Igariwey – Ebonyi State

4.       Chief Nnia Nwodo (Ike Ukehe) – Enugu State

5.       Next is Imo State come January 2020


Now that It is the turn of Imo State to present to Imeobi Ohanaeze and the National Executive Council the potentials are limitless. As we all know, Imo State has extensive wealth of potential candidates. While the candidates are yet to declare themselves, we are hoping in the weeks ahead, for a credible, incorruptible person that appreciates the enormous weight, the position of President General of Ohaneze Ndi-igbo carries for Ndigbo.

 

As usual, IWA always present *CRITICAL QUALITIES* expected of the potential candidates. Ndiigbo are at a critical crossroad now and consequently, the next Ohanaeze Ndiigbo leadership headed by the President General must possess the following leadership qualities:


1.       The candidate must be free from partisan politics *(ZERO POLITICS)*. No political sponsorship should be allowed in choosing our Ohanaeze leader.

2.   The next President General of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo must make true consolidation of   the governance of all the Igbo speaking states under Ohanaeze Ndiigbo an agenda item for his executive council    

3.       The aspirant should be presented to Ndiigbo by the Ohanaeze Ndiigbo of Imo State. The position is not an individual position. Ndiigbo want Ndi-Imo to come together and present their best candidates for President General of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo

4.       A person coming from the rank and file of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo institution will promote continuity and stability of the organization.

5.       A person should have served at various capacities and grassroots levels so as to understand the workings of Ohanaeze Ndiigbo Structure. This will be helpful.

6.       The person should be well known to the Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndiigbo and the State Ohanaeze Vice President Generals.

7.       The person must be known and have the experience of good working relationship with other regional powers, such as Afenifere, Ijaw Movement, Middle Belt Mandate and the Arewa.

8.       The person must be an Igbo person to the core with good understanding of Igbo culture, fearless and must be ready to promote, defend, pursue and deliver Igbo agenda. The person cannot be influenced by outside forces with selfish agenda.

9.       The person should have good working relationship or accessible with other major Igbo groups.

10.       The person should have the ability to unite or bring to the table all the important Igbo groups and our neighboring brothers and sister states.

11.   Our new Ohanaeze President General must be able to confront the security problems in Igboland

12.   Our new Ohanaeze President General should be able to assemble the business community within and outside Alaigbo for the development of Alaigbo.

13.   Our new Ohanaeze President General should be able to reach out to women and youths.

14.  Our new Ohanaeze President General must be able to establish financial independence for Ohanaeze Ndiigbo.

15. Our new Ohanaeze President General must be a person that cannot be blackmailed by forces working against Igbo interest.

16.  Our new Ohanaeze President General should establish strong working relationship with Ndiigbo in Diaspora through the already established the Ohanaeze Ndiigbo in Diaspora.

17. In lights of the above inputs, IWA therefore, appeal for the timetable for the election and Imeobi meeting should be summoned for direction regarding the election. This will enable the Diasporas plan the attendance to the election.

18. Furthermore, IWA advices that Ohanaeze ndi Igbo's constitution stipulation for the election process to be followed and fully complied with.
