President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.

The Inspector-General of Police was expected for retirement on February 1, 2021.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, uncovered this on Thursday while instructions State House journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said the extention is for a quarter of a year.

Dingyadi said that the choice of the President to stretch out the IGP's residency was to give time for legitimate determination of the new IGP.
