A CLARION CALL FOR JUSTICE

The Enugu State Female Comrades unites with Enugu State Ministry of Justice in its fight to bring justice for the late Ijeoma Nweke, a make up artist who was murdered in October 2020

According to the alleged killers of the deceased, Ifezue Emeka and Ifezue Chiamaka (siblings), she was killed for having an affair with Chiamaka's boyfriend.

Section 33(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN), 1999, provides that “every person has a right to life, and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his life, ...

Article 3 of the Universal Declaration provides that "everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person."

From all the findings made so far, it is apparent that her fundamental human right of section 33 (1) was infringed upon, and it is only, but right that justice be served.

'Justitia nemini neganda est' – Justice is to be denied to nobody. Not even to the dead

We enjoin our voice to echoe with the ministry of Justice, as we say ' Justice for Ijeoma'.

Justice for one is justice for all, and least we try to forget, 'punishment is not for revenge, but to reduce crime incidence and reform the criminal'.

As we protest and implore that justice be given, we as well find solace in ' Nil frustra facil' - The law does nothing in vain.

We hold firmly unto ' lex non deficere protest in justitia exhibenda' -  The law cannot fail in dispensing justice.

Case now transfered to high Court and adjourned for further hearings. Solidarity forever.

Signed:

Comr Goodness Nwabueze (President ESFC)

Comr Lilian Nneji (Secretary General ESFC)

Comr Genevieve Nwabueze (PRO ESFC)
