Political groups under the aegis of Enugu East Progressives and Enugu West People's Assembly have expressed their anger over Senator Chukwuka Utazi's comments few days ago on the zoning formular in Enugu State, where he stated that, Enugu is made up of 2 zones namely, Enugu and Nsukka.
In a Statement jointly signed by the coordinators of the Group, Engr Obed Eneh and Engr Agu Ndubisi
They stated that, such comment is an incitement on the people of Enugu West and Enugu East Senatorial zone as it is neither his first nor second time of making such a ludicrous statement.
According to the Statement, "Senator Chukwuka Utazi by making such statement, insulted the good people of Enugu West and Enugu East Senatorial Zone who supported them to take over the leadership of the State through the PDP, when it was clear that our brother and son, Senator Ike Ekweremmadu was almost on that verge of clinching power.
"It is on record that, Chief Dubem Onyia during a PDP 's Stakeholders meeting in 2014, moved a motion for the zoning system to be maintained amongst the 3 Senatorial zones in the state that prompted the emergence of Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the Governor on behalf of Enugu North Senatorial Zone"
"For Senator Utazi to split such an averment without any caution from his people shows that he is Acting on a well written script waiting for a full casting, but, we can never allow that to happen in the State."
"Enugu East and Enugu West supported Enugu North Senatorial zone to clinch power which is based on Equity and justice and it is Time for the power to shift to another zone"
The Group also frowned at the treacherous attitude of some opposition leaders supporting the statement like, Rt Hon Eugene Odoh, and Barr Okey Ezea, calling them, elements of bad democracy and warned them to put their face to Shame as they were all the beneficiaries of the zoning system in Enugu even as opposition leaders.
" We are saddened by the involvement of S Barr Okey Ezea and Senator Ayogu Eze, who were once given APC Enugu gubernatorial ticket on the surface of the existing zonig system with the help of the APC Enugu State chairman, Barr Dr Ben Nwoye ;even against the instruction of the National leadership.
" it is because of this sentimental belief that they once advised the Governor to concentrate his developmental policy in their zone which a lot of people have started seeing as an implemented idea"
"How can they now be sponsoring a retrogressive movement to sidetrack a system that once favoured them and pretending to be reputable Democrats while they are actually, ethnic extremists and pathological psychopaths."
They also warned that, should this existing zoning formulae be jettisoned, that Enugu will never be peaceful as, it is now neither will it develop and however, stated that, they are ready to fight the purveyors of such School of thought because I , they mụst surely flop it as it is dead on Arrival.
"We are warning that, if this zoning system is overruled that , Senator Chukwuka Utazi and co will not find it easy with ndị Enugu, even as a failed Senator, we will se how they will tag along with such a hypocritical hogwash of idea, they concluded.
