The Enugu State Liaison Officer of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Hon. Edeani M. Edeani, has thanked Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Commission’s MD/CEO, Chief Mark Okoye, and others who contributed to the flag-off of the SEDC agricultural programme in Nomeh, Nkanu East Local Government Area.
In a statement following the event, Edeani described Enugu State as the host of the Commission’s first flagship agricultural programme. He called the flag-off a milestone for the SEDC and the people of Enugu State.
Edeani expressed appreciation to Governor Mbah for his support, cooperation, and warm reception of the Commission. He said the governor’s administration had created an enabling environment for the SEDC’s work, while his openness, accessibility, and commitment to development had strengthened the partnership between the Commission and the state government.
He thanked the governor for the leadership and support that made the programme’s commencement in Enugu State possible. Edeani also thanked Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, who represented Governor Mbah at the ceremony and conveyed the goodwill and commitment of the state government.
The liaison officer acknowledged the Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, and the leadership of the Federal Ministry of Regional Development for their support and commitment to the development of the South East.
He expressed particular gratitude to the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, for his guidance, support, and coordination throughout the planning and implementation process.
Edeani also thanked the Chairman of the SEDC Board, Rt. Hon. Emeka Wogu, and members of the Board for their leadership, commitment, and presence at the flag-off.
Turning to the Commission’s management, he praised its MD/CEO, Chief Mark Okoye, for his resilience, hard work, and leadership. He said Okoye had shown determination to translate the SEDC’s mandate into tangible projects and development initiatives, and thanked him for ensuring that the agricultural programme commenced in Enugu State.
Edeani acknowledged the Director of Agriculture and Mineral Resources, the Executive Directors, Directors, management, and staff of the SEDC for their contributions to the programme. He gave special thanks to Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu and other SEDC leaders and stakeholders from Enugu State for their support throughout the process.
His appreciation extended to the Honourable Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, government officials, political appointees, legislators, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth leaders, development partners, stakeholders, members of the media, and other guests who attended the ceremony.
Edeani reserved a message of thanks for the people of Nomeh and Nkanu East, the programme’s host community. He commended their cooperation, hospitality, and commitment to peace and security, and thanked them for welcoming the initiative and making land available for its implementation. Their support, he said, contributed greatly to the programme’s successful flag-off.
He also recognised the SEDC Enugu State Liaison Office team and others who worked behind the scenes. He said their efforts in planning, coordination, protocol, logistics, security, community engagement, and execution had not gone unnoticed.
“The flag-off was more than a ceremony. It marked a historic moment for Enugu State, the SEDC, and the entire South East,” Edeani said.
Concluding on behalf of the SEDC Enugu State Liaison Office, he said: “Thank you, Enugu. Thank you, SEDC. Thank you, Nomeh. God bless Nigeria.”
He added that the programme marked the opening of a new chapter of development, opportunity, and prosperity for the people.
