SEDI MD, Police Orderly murdered in Enugu | CABLE REPORTERS

Gunmen again returned to the streets of Enugu on Wednesday evening and killed the Managing Director of the Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI), Akwuke, Enugu south council, Enugu state. Prof Samuel  Ndubuisi.

Ndubisi was killed alongside his Police Orderly in front of the Centenary City, along the Enugu Portharcourt highway at about 5.50pm on his way home after work.

His black Prado Jeep with inscription FG- SEDI –Enugu was riddled with bullets, even as his remains and that of his Police Orderly lay along the highway.

His remains and that of his Orderly were moved by security operatives to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) morgue.

It was not clear what could have led to the assassination of Prof Ndubuisi and his orderly

It was however gathered that his position at SEDI had come under serious threat since the Institute was transferred from the Ministry of Science and Technology to the Presidency.

“Infact, he received an overhead recently which came into several millions of naira which had never been so before. Several operational vehicles in our office are now bearing the presidency. Our signboard has also changed”, the source said.

Another source disclosed that the former dean at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) was a straight forward person, adding that “they may have killed him because he cannot take their rubbish”

Ndubuisi’s murder is the second high profile murders in the last three days in the state. The first was that of the Managing Director of Enugu AutoEase, Mr Ifeanyi Okafor, who was killed on his way home on Sunday night.
