ENUGU YOUTHS URGE POLITICAL PARTIES TO MAINTAIN THE ZONING FORMULA EXPERIENCED IN THE STATE | CABLE REPORTERS



Youth Leaders across the 3 senatorial ZONES in Enugu State have unanimously agreed to Stand on the existing zoning formula in the State as it is the surest way of maintaining the existing Unity and peaceful political atmosphere in the State.



Arising from a stakeholders meeting held on Thursday at Castle magestic hotels  Enugu, a meeting that was attended by over 300 notable Enugu Youth Leaders and organised by ka Enugu East senatorial Zone jee MOVEMENT , the youths agreed to work in harmony for the development of Enugu State which they said, is achievable when the existing zoning system in the state is not truncated.


They thanked Governor ifeanyi ugwuanyi for always carrying Enugu Youths along and urged all those planning to truncate the zoning system, to desist from doing that, so as to maintain justice, equity and fairness in leadership distribution in the state.


The Youth Leaders through a communique issued at the end of the meeting, urged all political parties in the State, to tow the line of the All Progressives Congress APC, who they said, have zoned their 2023 Gubernatorial ticket to Enugu East senatorial Zone as the continuation of the tripodal agreement is the Best way of bringing development, ensuring good Governance, political stability and Progress.

A COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF A ENUGU YOUTH 

STAKEHOLDERS MEETING HELD AT THE CASTLE MAJESTIC HOTEL ENUGU ON 16TH DECEMBER, 2021.


PREAMBLE: 


We, the stakeholders of Enugu youths drawn from all the Youth groups and organisations in the 17 local government areas of Enugu State at the end of the town hall meeting held today, the 16th day of December 2021, do hereby agree as follows:


 1. That we are happy with the peace, unity, progress and development of Enugu State which has been enthroned by justice, equity and fairness.


2. That we have thoroughly reviewed the existing peace and political stability currently being enjoyed by Ndi Enugu and have acknowledged that it's anchored on the principle of Inclusion, fairness and Equity which is established by the generally accepted zoning system in the State.


3. That the Enugu gubernatorial zoning pact is a tripod arrangement made to include all the three senatorial Zones in Enugu State; Enugu East, Enugu West and Enugu North Senatorial Zone.


4. That the existing gubernatorial zoning system in Enugu State is currently in Support of Enugu East senatorial zone and we, Enugu Youth Stakeholders hereby reaffirm our support to that.


5. That we thank Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu state for his giant strides and unprecedented development in Enugu state, especially his commitment to youth empowerment and participation in politics.


6. That we thank His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for always standing by the side of truth, peace and equity, justice hence the zoning.


7. That we thank the All Progressive Congress, APC for standing by the side of equity and fairness by zoning their gubernatorial ticket to Enugu East Senatorial Zone and call on the ruling People Democratic Party and other political parties in the state to officially and publicly tow the same line


8. That we are not 

unaware of some political jobbers and their sponsors who are in a desperate bid to truncate the established, equitable rotation/zoning. We hereby caution such political actors and their apologists to desist from such selfish and unprogressive venture, as an attempt to alter the zoning arrangement will be swiftly resisted with full force by the teeming population of Enugu Youths.


9. We hereby Call on the leadership of all political parties and political blocs in Enugu to acknowledge and take note of the zoning arrangement during nomination and fielding candidates for party primaries and general elections.


10. In Conclusion, We hope that Enugu State will continue on the path of good governance, political stability and progress as we await the coming of a Governor from Enugu East Senatorial Zone come 2023"



In his remarks the Convener of the town hall meeting and also a  former special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on youth Affairs, Comrade Ogechukwu Nnamene stated that, the aim of the programme is to sensitize the youths of Enugu State on the importance of supporting the zoning system that has already been in existence in the state.


He stated that, the event also provided an opportunity for Enugu youth leaders to Express their satisfaction on the leadership of Governor ifeanyi ugwuanyi for always carrying them along by giving them leadership positions.


"The programme is aimed at creating awareness for Enugu Youths to understand the importance of supporting the existing zoning system in the state"


"Enugu Youths are very peaceful especially those from Enugu East Senatorial Zone and we need to make our stance known through round table discussion '


" The programme was nearly sabotagged by some people who did not understand the quiddity of it but God made it to be a success"

Also Speaking, the chairman of the Local organizing committee of the programme, comrade Okoh chisimdi, urged Youths across the 3 senatorial districts to work hard in ensuring that their stakeholders are made to support the existing zoning system in the state ;which he said, has brought growth and visible development.

"in as much as politics is about interest, but the most important interest is one, that will usher unattainable development in Enugu State"


"it is the turn of Enugu East senatorial Zone to produce the next Governor of Enugu State and this has been the style since Time immemorial in Enugu State"

"We have a lot of competent people across all the fields of life from Enugu East Senatorial Zone and as it has always been, we can produce the Best for the State"
