In what could be termed as an unlikely scenario, Hon. David C. Ani, The Technical Assistant to Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has opposed the vote of confidence passed on his boss, the governor, by the Nkerefi community, the aide who hails from the said community termed the published vote of confidence as false, cheap propaganda, mockery and total disrespect to the Nkerefi Community.
In a statement signed by him, Hon. Ani who is also Publicity Secretary of Nkerefi Patriotic Forum maintained that no traditional ruler, town union President nor the youth of his community approved any endorsement on the Enugu Governor.

The media publication which we saw on vanguard newspapers dated 9th December 2021 which claimed that Ndi Nkerefi stakeholders passes vote of confidence on the current government of Enugu state is nothing but cheap propaganda and false, the same news went further to state that all citizens of Nkerefi (over 10, 000 people) are members of the peoples Democratic party (PDP) is nothing but a mockery and disrespect to the great land of Nkerefi and her sons and daughters worldwide
We the great people of Nkerefi wishes to inform the general public that Nkerefi people are unique and democratic in nature and will always accept freedom of association as stated in the law of the federal republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬
We also wish to inform the general public that there were no meeting of stakeholders of Nkerefi as there is no town union president, Igwe, village heads elders of our land and the leadership of Nkerefi Development Union, Nkerefi Patroitic Forum and Nkerefi Youth Forum present in the claimed meeting
We also use this opportunity to inform the general public that Ndi Nkerefi cannot join her tradition with politics and will always welcome any individual or political party with good motive and shall always support any movement in line with the law of our land
Finally we urge the general public to disregard any publication stating Nkerefi in general passing vote of confident on any particular individual or political party
