Group begins Electrification of Enugu community after years of government abandonment | CABLE REPORTERS

After decades of infrastructural dereliction by the government, a socio-cultural cum economic group has begun the electrification of Agu-Isienu, Isiagu Akpawfu autonomous community, in Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State.


The group - Isiagu Akpawfu Project Providers (IAPP) kicked off  the  rural electrification intervention last week, “to bring development and progress to their community”




The multi-million naira project when completed will cover the Texas junction to Agu-isienu Isiagu Akpawfu axis and would see to the maiden electrification of the homes of many rural dwellers of Isiagu community.

The co-ordinator of the group, Mr Ifeanyi Nwodo on an interchange with CABLE REPORTERS expressed that the group conceded to come together to raise funds solely for the growth of their community, he also pointed out other people-oriented projects their group has executed.

“After seeing what our people are passing through, the level of the underdevelopment and abandonment by all the governments, we decided to come together to raise funds and begin the execution of these projects such as Erosion control, distribution of educational materials, and this current Electrification, which is in phases, we are in phase one now, and we plan to execute three phases of electrification in no distant time.”


On his part, the group's Secretary-General, Mr Afam Edeani, revealed the dissatisfaction of the union and the entire Akpawfu community over  government's neglect, he equally appealed to the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to remember Akpawfu Community.

“We're not happy that our community is been neglected in the scale of things, there's no government presence in our community,  no infrastructure of any kind, no hospital, no electricity, water and no access road. We hardly travel home during the rainy season, we have no major appointments, talk more of an elective positions. We appeal to the Governor of our State, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the incoming Nkanu East Local Government chairman to remember our community in the scale of things.” he added.
