#Enugu2023: Of Peter Mbah's Plan for Social Service Delivery: Focus on Education by Prof Chris Chimdubem Ngwu | CABLE REPORTERS

Dr. Peter Mbah

It was the May 19, 1925 Nebraska born human right activist and one of the prominent leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, Malcom Little, popularly known as Malcom X who, while underscoring the essence of education in the society, opined that “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” This assertion validates the verity that any nation which is determined to thrive must pay the price of investing hugely in it's human capital development, especially in the education sector, because, “.....an investment in Education pays the best interest” (Benjamin Franklin).

Education is, indeed, the most critical and the most powerful lever for economic development. It is the key to raising productivity and improving living standards. It plays a vital role in raising savings, developing human capital and enhancing competitiveness. Education is the process of teaching people. It's the act of giving someone information and developing their intellectual, emotional, and social capacities, so that they can function properly the given in society. Education is, also, linked to poverty reduction as it includes training in the basic skills necessary for one to effectively participate in a particular career of choice. It, also, affords people the knowledge and skills they need to function in the society. Education is a lifelong process that helps individuals develop their intellectual, emotional, and social capacities for participating fully and making significant contributions to their society.

No doubt, the present  administration in Enugu State has satisfactorily paid much attention on this important sector....no wonder Enugu State is ranked 1st in Nigeria in the recent result of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), as well as  No.1 in the utilisation of UBEC funds based on an evaluated by the Universal Basic Education Board. Also, the newly established Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS), Igbo-Eno equally showcased the strides of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led administration in the Education sector.

As the machinations for who becomes the next governor of Enugu State come may 2023 continue,  it is imperative we consider the best candidate who is fit for this all important role; one who is conscious of the value of education, the realities of today, and the modern paradigm shift in the learning processes. Top of the list with no other close alternative is the London-trained, Maritime lawyer.....Oxford and Havard Alumnus and the IESE University of Navarra-trained businessman, who is also the Gubernatorial Candidate of people Democartic Party and the Chief Executive of Officer of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Limited, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

This learned gentleman has demonstrated in many ways that he's the most prepared to take Enugu state Education sector to the “pinnacle”. In his last engagement at the Enugu State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA. Dr Mbah expressed that “ Education is the bedrock upon which every other development strides is built. Our education curricula will be reviewed to be in tune with modern realities. Our ‘Catch them Young’ programme will from early age of 4 years inculcate moral and civic values in our children. Our education system will be infused with ICT so that our young ones will compete with their mates across the world. Comprehensive secondary schools will be created in the 3 senatorial zones as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics centres”. This is in line with his mission to deliver quality, people-focused governance by making Enugu State the preferred destination for investment, business, tourism and living.

It is clear from the foregoing that Dr. Mbah is the best candidate to carry out this fulfilling ambitions, which will revolutionize and propel quality education, vocational training, and technical education in both rural and urban areas.

Just as John Graham opined that “vision inspires action. A powerful vision pulls in ideas, people and other resources. It creates the energy and will to make change happen." Dr. Peter Mbah has, therefore, shown that he's a competent and visionary leader who has a solid grasp of the educational sector and a better idea to effect a change. In our lifetime, we are set to have the best shot at quality service delivery, I'm very excited for the gift of Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and it behoves on all of us to rally around him with our vote, support and prayers.

Indeed, our tomorrow is here!
