Governor Mbah Lauds Enugu Workers on Workers’ Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Their Welfare | CABLE REPORTERS

In a stirring Workers’ Day message, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State paid glowing tribute to the state’s workforce, lauding their strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the development of the state. The governor’s message, posted on his official Facebook page on the occasion of the 2025 Workers’ Day, underscored the pivotal role workers play in Enugu’s ongoing transformation and highlighted his administration’s relentless efforts to prioritize their welfare.

“Today, we honour the strength, resilience, and sacrifice of our workforce. Your dedication to duty, even in challenging times, inspires our drive to build a better, more prosperous Easter State,” Mbah declared. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by workers across various sectors, civil servants, teachers, healthcare professionals, artisans, and entrepreneurs, whose contributions form the bedrock of the state’s progress.

Governor Mbah’s administration has earned widespread praise for its worker-centric policies since assuming office. His government has prioritized timely payment of salaries and pensions, addressing long-standing delays that previously plagued retirees and workers. Additionally, the governor has spearheaded initiatives to improve working conditions, including the refurbishment of public offices and the provision of modern equipment for civil servants. These efforts have significantly boosted morale and productivity among the workforce.

Others includes transforming Enugu through innovation, infrastructure, and inclusive growth. Projects such as the Enugu Smart City initiative, the rehabilitation of key road networks like the Oji-River-Awgu Road, Enugu - Nsukka dualization and the expansion of water supply systems demonstrate Mbah’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for workers. These developments not only enhance the quality of life for workers and their families but also streamline service delivery, making workplaces more efficient and accessible.

Mbah’s emphasis on inclusive growth has particularly resonated with workers. His administration’s support for small-scale businesses through the Enugu State Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) program has empowered many workers to explore entrepreneurial opportunities. Low-interest loans, vocational training, and market access initiatives have provided workers with pathways to financial independence, fostering a sense of ownership in the state’s economic progress.

“We are partners in progress, and your contribution is deeply valued,” Mbah stated, reinforcing his collaborative approach to governance. His administration has actively engaged labor unions and worker representatives in policy discussions, ensuring that workers’ voices shape the state’s development agenda. This partnership has led to tangible outcomes, such as the implementation of training programs to equip workers with skills for a rapidly evolving economy.

As Enugu continues its journey toward becoming a model of progress in Nigeria, Mbah’s leadership remains a beacon of hope for workers. His administration’s focus on innovation, coupled with a genuine commitment to workers’ welfare, has set a high standard for governance.

The governor concluded his message with a heartfelt note of gratitude: “Thank you for all you do. Happy Workers’ Day!”
