CSOs Condemn Attempted Blackmail Against Dr. Muheebah Dankaka | CABLE REPORTERS

Commend Abu Zaria for their prompt response, clarifications & apologies

Says all blackmailers must be arrested without delay

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups has condemned every attempted blackmail against Dr, (Mrs) Muheebah Dankaka, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission.

The coalition group alleged that there is a campaign of calumny against the FCC boss by some “self-centred Commissioners in disguised as whistle blower”.

The group further said that their independent investigation shows all matter in question had been laid to rest by Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU), adding that the University didn't only release documents that certified Dr, Muheebah Dankaka as a graduate from their prestigious University, they also issued an apology and as well deny being the source of the letter earlier released on behalf of the University by some faceless groups.

The CSOs urged the anti-graft agencies to as a matter of urgency arrest and try those desperate blackmailers and their sponsors, as their actions did not only undermine the rule of law but also compromise the integrity of the nation’s institutions.

“For the records, the national assembly, who is saddled with legitimate investigations of all Agencies, MDAs and Parastatals has investigated the Federal Character Commission Boss, unravelled the malicious corruption allegations of the desperate blackmailers in disguised as minority Commissioners, and thrashed it after thorough investigation that none of such happened,” the group said.

“It may interest you to know that it was the same desperate aggrieved minority Commissioners in the Federal Character Commission that ran to the national assembly to constitute a panel towards unravelling their petition. After the national assembly which they believed they would use to blackmail the FCC Boss towards frustrating her fight against corruption and other forms of indiscipline, the National Assembly through the Rep committees dismissed their petition and cleared FCC Boss, Dr (Mrs) Muheebah Dankaka of such lies, they have now switched their desperate plans towards the FCC Boss academic qualifications.”

“We want to emphasise that we, as a coalition, stand firmly against any form of corruption or misconduct within public and private institutions. However, the appropriate channels for addressing such concerns are through established due processes, not through coercion, blackmail, or extortion as being practiced by the desperate minority Commissioners.”

“The Coalition of Civil Society Groups firmly believes in the principles of due process and the rule of law.”

"Every citizen, regardless of their status or affiliation, is entitled to a fair hearing. The actions of some sets of desperate blackmailers in disguised as aggrieved Commissioners, on the other hand, represent a blatant disregard for these principles and pose a threat to the stability and credibility of our Institutions.”

“It is essential for all citizens to trust and have confidence in our institutions.”

"By attempting to subvert due process through blackmail and extortion undermines the very foundations of justice that our society relies upon.”

“Furthermore, we urge the public to remain vigilant and discerning when faced with sensationalist claims or attempts to manipulate public opinion. It is our collective responsibility to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and due process.”
