BREAKING: Enugu State Commissioner for Lands Resigns, Accuse Enugu Governor Of High-handedness | CABLE REPORTERS

Surv. Dr. Nnam

The Enugu State Commissioner for lands and Urban Development Dr. Surv. Victor Chukwuemeka Nnam has resigned his appointment as the honourable Commissioner overseeing the Lands ministry in the state, accusing the government of being overbearing and inconsiderate to the rights of the “innocent state civil servants.”

The Commissioner in his resignation letter dated 29th October 2021 which he personally signed, thanked Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for giving him the opportunity to serve the good people of Enugu.

While citing his reason for resignation, he accused the Ugwuanyi led administration of high-handedness and punitive actions which led to the recent removal of professional heads of department under his ministry.

“The reason for my resignation is as a result of the removal of the PROFESSIONAL HODs UNDER ME ON PUNITIVE GROUND FOR SIMPLY DOING THEIR JOBS DILIGENTLY. As a technocrat and a HUMAN with CONSCIENCE, I CANNOT CONTINUE TO SERVE THE GOVERNMENT WHILE THOSE INNOCENT PROFESSIONALS ARE PUNISHED FOR DOING THEIR WORK.” Surv. Nnam Stated.

He also expressed worry that even though he accepted the appointment in 2019 with hope that he was going to be allowed to bring on board World Best Practices in land administration, especially to ensure an end the menace of land grabbing in Enugu State, he is left disappointed as his proposed establishment of a GIS land administration system which would have stamped out land grabbers and create investors confidence in the land system was rejected without explanation.

“I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner for lands and Urban Development, Enugu State with effect from today, Friday 29th of October 2021, and submit the black Prado SUV with plate number IENSG 5712 to your office” Surv. Nnam added

Hon. Nnam thanked his family, friends and supporters promising them that his journey just began.

“I sincerely and specially thank everyone who stood by me since the 2yrs I spent with this government,  I assure you all that WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED. “
