The Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has been conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of East London, in recognition of his contributions to public service and development.
The conferment took place in London, where senior representatives of the university highlighted the Governor’s leadership vision and public service philosophy.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Governor Mbah outlined his administration’s development agenda for Enugu State, focusing on four key areas: education, healthcare, human capital development and infrastructure.
He said sustainable development requires more than isolated projects, stressing the importance of sustained investment in people, institutions and infrastructure to create an environment where economic and social activities can thrive.
According to the Governor’s vision, investment in education is essential to preparing future generations, while improved healthcare is critical to the wellbeing and productivity of citizens. He also identified human capital development as a means of equipping residents with relevant skills for participation in the modern economy.
Infrastructure, he noted, remains a critical foundation for businesses, communities and institutions to grow and prosper.
Governor Mbah further expressed his ambition to position Enugu State as a competitive and productive destination capable of attracting investment while creating better opportunities and improving the quality of life of its citizens.
His address received prolonged applause from the audience at the conclusion of the ceremony.
The ceremony also provided an international platform for discussions around the future of Enugu State and the broader development challenges facing Africa.
The recognition comes as Governor Mbah continues to pursue an ambitious development agenda aimed at strengthening the state’s human capital, infrastructure and social institutions.
While the honorary doctorate represents a significant distinction, the ultimate measure of the administration’s success, according to the message delivered at the event, will be its long-term impact on the people of Enugu State through stronger institutions, improved schools and healthcare facilities, expanded economic opportunities and better infrastructure.
The Governor’s development philosophy was summed up in the phrase, “Tomorrow is Here,” which has become associated with his vision for the state.
The ceremony was attended by friends, associates and other well-wishers who gathered to witness the conferment.
The Secretary of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission, Ambrose Nwodoh, who attended the ceremony, congratulated Governor Mbah on the honour, describing it as a significant recognition of his contributions to society and public service.
