GET YOUR NIN TO ACCESS BASIC HEALTHCARE SUPPORT | CABLE REPORTERS

The Enugu State Government is calling on eligible vulnerable residents across the State to take advantage of the National Identification Number (NIN) registration exercise.

With the commencement of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) 2.0 in 2026, NIN is now a mandatory requirement for vulnerable persons enrolling in the programme.

The BHCPF provides support for access to basic healthcare services and helps to protect vulnerable people from the financial burden of healthcare.

WHO SHOULD TAKE PART?

The exercise is particularly for:

• Everyone who has previously been registered by the Universal Health Coverage programme at a local Primary Health Care facility, whether or not they have accessed healthcare services.

• Pregnant women.

• Children under five years.

• Persons with disabilities.

• Indigent members of the population.

• Persons aged 85 years and above.

• Pensioners.

• Other eligible vulnerable members of the community.

Families, community leaders and other stakeholders are also encouraged to assist vulnerable persons who may require support in completing the NIN registration process, particularly elderly persons, children, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable members of the community who may need such assistance.

No eligible vulnerable person should be left behind or denied access to available healthcare support on account of not having a NIN.

The registration exercise is being undertaken statewide, with particular emphasis on rural communities, to facilitate NIN registration among eligible vulnerable persons.

WHERE AND WHEN WILL THE REGISTRATION TAKE PLACE?

The NIN registration exercise will take place across the 260 wards in Enugu State. Please visit a Primary Healthcare Centre near you for information on the location of the registration exercise in your ward, as indicated in the schedule below:
