#Breaking: Nkanu Youths Hold Grand Fiesta, Honor Ugwuanyi, Says 2023 Zoning Is Sacrosanct As Ugwuanyi Responds | CABLE REPORTERS




Youths from Enugu East senatorial district have held their annual grand cultural fiesta at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The program held on 28th November 2021 was in celebration of their rich cultural heritage and appreciation of the contributions of their noble ones, they equally placed demands on things affecting them as a nation, emphasizing that zoning of 2023 governorship seat is sacrosanct.


The National President of Nkanu Youths, Hon. Edeani M. Edeani, in his opening remarks, emphasized that the program is key towards promoting Nkanu culture and advancement of Nkanu nation, he maintained the need for Ndi nkanu to remain resolute while pleading with the governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to ensure his promise of maintaining the established zoning system in Enugu State.

“We are here again as great sons and daughters of Nkanu land to celebrate our culture and hold dear to that which binds us together as the great Sons and Daughters of one Nkanu land.”


“As the theme of this years program states: celebrating the past leaders, encouraging the present leaders and preparing the future leader, it is very important to always appreciate our illustrious sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves in many fields of endeavours with evident impact in the lives of our people as we prepare the younger ones for the task ahead ” - Hon. Hon. Edeani, who is also an aide to the Enugu governor stated that the zoning of Enugu gubernatorial position to Enugu East Senatorial zone remains sacrosanct, pleading with Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ugwuanyi to ensure his promise to Ndi Nkanu.

“ As leadership is part of our culture, I equally want to state categorically that zoning of Enugu gubernatorial position to Ndi Nkanu come 2023 remains sacrosanct.”

“His Excellency Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani finished his 2nd term in office and handed it over to Ndi West; His Excellency Barr. Sullivan Chime, Gov. Chime finished his second term and handed it over to my Boss, His excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi from North and it’s expected that the zoning arrangements will be maintained to ensure we have Nwa Nkanu at the lion building come 2023, when my boss, the hardworking governor of Enugu State finish strongly”


“I’m so happy with the person of my boss, His Excellency, he is a peaceful governor and a lover of justice, peace and fairness, he has assured us many times of his commitment to maintaining justice in Enugu State and I’m so confident that he will keep his words as always”

“I want to reassure our Governor that Nkanu youths are strong with him,  Nkanu people are solidly behind him, and Ndi Enugu and all lovers of justice and fairness are also solidly behind him as we await his direction” - Hon. Edeani

Hon. Edeani equally eulogized the former Senate President, Sen. Ken Nnamani, he celebrated him for being a worthy father figure to Nkanu youths and for his continued support to nkanu nation, he equally celebrated the former Governor of old Anambra state, Sen. Jim Nwobodo, the former Governor of Enugu state and the current senator Enugu east senatorial zone Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani, sending tribute to  Sen. Chimaroke over the death of his dear mother.

                 Gov. Ugwuanyi Responds:

On his part, The Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi represented by the SPA on Information, Hon. Steve Oruruo expressed regret that the governor couldn’t meet up to join in person as he did last year, he stated that it was due to other official functions with his colleagues in Abia state, He thanked Nkanu youths and assured them that he will ensure justice and fairness when the time comes.

“I thank the organisers of today’s great event who are not just the leaders of tomorrow but also the leaders of today".

" I  have listened to the opinion of Nkanu people, and I want to assure ndi Nkanu that justice, fairness and good conscience will guide all my decision at the appropriate time" Gov. Ugwuanyi 

Governor ugwuanyi also tasked the apex youth body in Nkanu land to remain focused promising continued partnership with them.

Earlier at the event, the former president for the senate, Sen. Ken Nnamani, represented by Bar. Jerry Eneh thanked the youths assuring them of his continued support and fatherly care.


Highlights of the event include cultural songs and dance display, masquerade exhibitions and presentation of awards.

Governor Ugwuanyi, Senator Ken Nnamani, Sen Shehu Sani, Ambassador Elijah Onyeagba, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, Prof. Hillary Edeoga, Hon. Princess Peace Nnaji, Ujam Cynthia are amongst guest and noble Ndi Nkanu that were  honored at the grand event.


The event also attracted serving  and past council chairmen, lawmakers, permanent Secretaries, traditional and religious leaders among others
