Engr Mike Ogbuekwe, over the weekend, paid homage to his former boss, Gov Willie Obiano, as he rounds up his tenure as the Governor of Anambra State (2014-2022).
Gov Obiano took him on a personally curated tour of his projects. He then thanked him for being hardworking, focused and loyal, while working with him for 5 years in several capacities and assignments.
Gov Obiano advised him to continue giving the same quality of service to his current boss, Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
He considered the fact that Hon. Mike worked for him as a handshake across the sister states, as both states are known for regional co-operation, inter-marriage and appointments into top government positions.
This interstate cooperation is evident in the appointment of Barr Uwakwe Azikwe, son of the Great Zik from Onitsha, as Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Governor of Enugu State.
In 2014, Engr Ogbuekwe started working with Gov Obiano as the SSA on Agriculture where he implemented the Anambra Rice program. He also served as the secretary of the Anambra Land Acquisition Team that facilitated the acquisition of land for large scale commercial agriculture investors. Ogbuekwe also served as a member of the Economic Think Tank team while serving on several executive council committees.
In 2018, Ogbuekwe became the first Director General of the Anambra State Project Management and Monitoring Office. Engr Mike Ogbuekwe is currently the Special Adviser on Agriculture to the Governor of Enugu State.
