Edo Speaker, Six Other Lawmakers, Defect to PDP | CABLE REPORTERS

‎Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Frank Abumere Okiye, on Tuesday formally defected from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Six other APC lawmakers joined the Speaker in defecting to the PDP on the floor of the house during a plenary session on Tuesday. ‎

Okiye, while announcing the defection, said he and the other six other lawmakers decamped to the ruling PDP in order to support the governor, Godwin Obaseki, to move Edo State forward.

According to the Speaker, sharp divisions and factionalisation in the APC chapter in the state was one of the reasons they decided to cross to PDP.

He explained that the defection will enable him and the six lawmakers to perform their duties effectively as representative of their constituencies.

Those who formally decamped with the Speaker are Hon. Asoro Osadebamwen Roland. Hon. Aluebhosele Ephraim; Hon. Ojiezele Osezua Sunday; Hon. Okhuarobor Henry. Hon. Okoduwa Emma and Hon. Marcus Onobun.

It would be recalled that all the 24 members of the House were all elected on the platform of the APC.‎
