The Women of Ngwo community, Enugu North Local Government Area, have debunked claims by the senatorial candidate of the APC for Enugu East Senatorial Zone, Princess Ada Ogbu Nara, that one of them and a veteran actress, Evang Mrs Patience Ozokwor, led them to endorse the candidacy of Princess Ada Ogbu for Senate, Enugu East Senatorial Zone, declaring it as fake and mischievous
Mrs Edna Ude who spoke to CABLE REPORTERS on behalf Ngwo Women narrated with despair the fake news making rounds which are inimical to the position of Ngwo women, emphasizing that Patience Ozokwor and Ngwo Women never supported, mobilized, nor made any prior arrangements for Ada Ogbu as they deceitfully claimed.
Mrs Ude recounted that the women were surprised to see Ada Ogbu among them during one of their regular monthly meetings, which also happened to be their last gathering for the year 2022, at Ekeani Market Ngwo. Ada Ogbu then pleaded for an audience, telling them of how her agent had informed her of the meeting and that she only wanted to see them so she could celebrate the season with them as a fellow woman.
Mrs Ude enjoined the public to disregard such concocted false endorsement as it never ensued.
“ The news making round that Evang. Patience Ozokwor mobilized Enugu Ngwo women for the APC senatorial candidate of Enugu East senatorial zone, Princess Ada Ogbu Nara Unateze is totally false, mischievous and deceitful”.
“On Friday 30th December, 2022, the women of Enugwu Ngwo community ably chaired by Evang. Patience Ozokwor converged at the community Town Hall to have their usual end of year meeting/prayer session for the progress of our community and the society at large in the new year. As the meeting was going on, someone came in and informed us that a female politician wanted to see us and celebrate the season with us. After a little while, the visitor arrived with some few individuals who I believe informed her of the date of our meeting for her attendance and also some press and camera men. She began by letting us know that she was the APC senatorial candidate for Enugu East senatorial zone. Immediately she mentioned APC, our women started murmuring because Ngwo people are predominantly PDP people and have been so for many years. Because we recognize that it is a political season and that every aspirant deserves the opportunity to at least address the people and sell their manifesto, we listened to her and all she had to say. After her speech, she brought out some gifts specifically some clothing materials and said they were Christmas/new year gifts for our women. We generously thanked her for remembering to come and see us and also for the gift items. She also asked for a group photograph which we obliged her with. She left not long after and we continued our meeting”
