Breaking News: Tribunal Sacks Enugu Labour Party Rep Member, Declares Nnaji, PDP candidate as the Rightful Winner - CABLE REPORTERS

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu has nullified the return of the Labour Party's candidate, Prof. Sunday Nnamchi, as the House of Representatives member for Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in Enugu State.

The three-man panel, presided over by A. M. Abubakar, has declared the candidate of the People's Democratic Party, Hon. Prince Cornelius Nnaji, as the rightful winner of the election conducted on 25th February, 2023.

Prince Nnaji, a one-term Federal lawmaker, filed a petition challenging the declaration of Prof. Nnamchi by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the election. His claim was based on the assertion that Prof. Nnamchi was not duly sponsored and qualified to contest the election under the Labour Party's candidacy.

In its judgment, the tribunal concurred with the petitioner, ruling that the Labour Party candidate was indeed not qualified to participate in the election. This verdict marks a significant turn of events in the electoral landscape of Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency.

The tribunal's decision has ignited widespread jubilation across the 23 Wards of the Constituency as supporters of Hon. Prince Cornelius Nnaji celebrate his victory and eagerly anticipate his representation in the National Assembly.

This ruling brings an end to a contentious legal battle and reshapes the political dynamics in Enugu State. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
