Enugu Concerned Citizens Warn Okwuruora Over Comments on Governor, Defend Administration’s Record

A group identifying as Enugu Concerned Citizens has issued a strong-worded statement in response to recent criticisms made by Okwuruora against the Governor of Enugu State.

In a press release signed by Mr. Godwin Eze, the group condemned what it described as “abusive language” used by Okwuruora in his comments about the governor. They urged him to desist from further verbal attacks and to issue a public apology.

“The governor has shown exceptional leadership and delivered impressive results in the last two years, unmatched since 1999,” the group stated. “Enugu people are proud of his performance and his unwavering commitment to a governance system driven by merit.”

The statement further questioned Okwuruora’s credibility, citing “alleged fraudulent activities in the United Kingdom” involving unresolved financial cases. The group also claimed that Okwuruora had previously lobbied for a commissioner post and a plot of land, both of which were rejected by the governor on the grounds of meritocracy.

Warning of unspecified consequences should the criticisms persist, the group encouraged Okwuruora to channel any political ambitions through the appropriate democratic means.

“If he wishes to contest for governor in the future, whether in the next cycle or within the next 24 years, he is free to do so through due process,” the statement read. “It is unfortunate that someone of his profile would resort to cheap blackmail.”

The group reaffirmed their support for the current administration and urged the governor to remain focused on delivering development for the people of Enugu State.

As of the time of this report, there has been no official response from Okwuruora, who is largely known for his philanthropic initiatives.
